| White Fused Alumina (WFA) is a highly purified, synthetic mineral and its main raw material is pure grade Bayer Alumina. It is produced in an electric arc furnace under carefully controlled conditions at temperatures greater than 2000&©|730;C followed by a slow solidification process. It is white in color, dense and has predominantly large crystals of Alpha Alumina. The hardness of WFA is higher, but toughness is lower than that of Brown Fused Alumina, hence it is highly suitable in Vitrified Bonded Abrasives products where cool, fast cutting action is essential and also in the manufacture of high purity alumina refractories. |
